About · Komatsu D65PXOverview
The Komatsu D65PX is a mid-range crawler bulldozer in the 20–25-tonne class, built continuously since 2005. The PX wide-track variant develops 205 hp from a Komatsu SAA6D114E-2 engine and pushes a 4.5 m³ semi-U blade. The D65PX-18 series added a full Tier 4 Final emissions package, auto-idle shutdown, and KOMTRAX telematics as standard.
Typical applicationsWhere this machine is used
Road and motorway sub-base preparation is the primary use case for the D65PX across Germany and the Netherlands. The machine moves large volumes of gravel and crushed stone efficiently. Contractors also use it for fill compaction on industrial site developments, embankment formation on rail projects, and land-clearing ahead of housing construction. In Germany, it appears on Autobahn widening projects.
Used-market inspectionWhat to check before buying
Final-drive planet gears can show premature wear on machines used heavily on rock or hard compacted fill. Check the track chain pitch measurement: elongation above 2–3% means replacement is due within a few hundred hours. Engine oil consumption above 0.5 L per 100 hours is a warning sign. Inspect the cab HVAC system, particularly the air-conditioning compressor; budget for a regas and belt check.
Current marketPrice position
The D65PX competes with the Caterpillar D6T and the Liebherr PR734 in the 20-tonne dozer segment. Komatsu's dealer network in Benelux and Germany supports competitive residual values. Machines from the 2012–2018 period offer good value: supply is adequate and parts availability is excellent. European demand for this size class is supported by road infrastructure spending under EU cohesion funds.
