About · Komatsu PC210Overview
The Komatsu PC210 is a 20-tonne class hydraulic excavator in continuous production since 2000 through multiple generations. The current PC210-11 is powered by a Komatsu SAA6D107E-3 engine producing 159 hp. It operates a 0.93 m³ standard bucket with a maximum digging depth of 6.6 metres. Multiple arm configurations are available, from short-radius arms for urban work to long-reach arms for canal dredging. KOMTRAX telematics is standard from the PC210-8 series onwards.
Typical applicationsWhere this machine is used
Dutch contractors use the PC210 for foundation excavation, cable and pipe trench installation, and drainage channel profiling. Belgian road contractors use it for sub-base excavation and topsoil stripping. In Germany, it is a standard machine for utility relocation ahead of road and rail projects. The combination of power, reach, and transport width makes it one of the most versatile machines in the 20-tonne class.
Used-market inspectionWhat to check before buying
The hydraulic pump is a critical inspection point. Listen for noise or vibration at operating pressure and check the pump case drain flow rate against Komatsu's specification. Inspect the swing ring gear and pinion for backlash and uneven surface wear, common on machines used for demolition or rock-breaking. Request KOMTRAX data history to review fuel consumption trends, idle time percentages, and recorded fault events. Arm and boom pins and bushings are high-wear items requiring regular greasing.
Current marketPrice position
The PC210 is one of the most liquid assets in the European used excavator market. Supply is abundant and prices are transparent. It competes with the Caterpillar 320, Hitachi ZX210, and Volvo EC220. Demand in the NL/BE market has been consistent, driven by utility infrastructure investment. The PC210-8 and PC210-10 series from 2010–2020 offer the best combination of specification, parts availability, and price.
